New Doctoral Student

The Chair of POM welcomes Ms. Teresa von der Horst as a new doctoral student from October 2024.

Teresa

Teresa von der Horst recently completed her master’s degree in Development, Production, and Management in Mechanical Engineering at TU Munich, focusing on sustainable manufacturing and smart production. Her master's thesis, written in collaboration with MAN Truck & Bus, analyzed end-of-life strategies for vehicle components, exploring the opportunities and challenges of circular economy in the commercial vehicle sector.

With extensive experience from internships and working student roles at various companies, Teresa has a solid industrial background. At BMW and MAN Truck & Bus, she worked on production topics, gaining expertise in production planning, quality management, and process optimization. She also acquired valuable hands-on knowledge in solution engineering at the robotics start-up Robco GmbH, as well as insights into consulting at the Boston Consulting Group. Complementing her industry experience, Teresa's academic journey includes international exchanges at Royal Institute of Technology Stockholm and Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, specializing in sustainability and mechanical engineering.

In her research, Teresa aims to focus on remanufacturing, a key strategy in the circular economy to conserve resources and enable more sustainable production.

Outside of work, Teresa likes to be active and outdoors. She enjoys sailing on the ocean or near lakes, as well as being in the mountains both in summer and winter.
