Daniel is the Co-Founder and CTO of the ETH Spin-off external pageManukai.

After studying his B.Sc. ETH in Electrical Engineering & Information Technologies, he continued his study with a M.Sc. ETH in Computational Science and Engineering. Recently, he successfully defended his doctoral thesis with the title “A Framework for Uncertainty Quantification, Optimization, and Reinforcement Learning” from the Chair of Computational Sciences and the Soft Robotics Lab at ETH Zürich. During his research he focused on computationally expensive problems, and he complemented his studies with a one year stay at Harvard University.

The breakthroughs relevant to the BRIDGE Proof Of Concept grant are based on the development of scalable algorithms that solve sequential decision-making processes in complex engineering applications. During the BRIDGE PoC, he aims to apply the developed methods in precision mechanics to advance the automation of CNC machine programming. This will serve as a pivotal aspect of Manukai's CAM Copilot, leveraging current production data to accelerate the programming of CNC machines and sustain operational excellence.

Prof. Netland and the Chair of POM are excited to host Daniel and contribute to the Swiss startup ecosystem.
