Successful Kick-off Meeting of the ASSY 5.1 research project

Exciting news! The chair of POM is proud to announce being part of the ASSY 5.1 research project that has just started with a successful kick-off workshop.

The project is centered around manual assembly. This is an essential, but usually difficult-to-automate process step in the fabrication of complex and multi-variant products. Our vision is to support assembly workers with augmenting technologies such as augmented reality (AR), smart cameras, and smart tools to make Switzerland the best-cost country for manual assembly.

ASSY

The project is managed by Inspire as the main research partner. In cooperation with our three implementation partners Maxon, Accelleron, and Bossard, we will conduct various field experiments to examine the effects of augmenting technologies from an operational and behavioral perspective. Based on these results, we will develop a toolbox that supports companies in the selection and implementation of suitable technologies. The total project budget is CHF 890’000, and more than half is funded by the Swiss Innovation Agency Innosuisse. The project will run for the next 2.5 years (2023 – 2026).

Stay tuned for the upcoming news and results from this project!
