POM team wins another Nigel Slack Teaching Innovation Award
At EurOMA 2023 conference in Leuven last week, the Chair of Production and Operations Management won its second Nigel Slack Teaching Innovation Award. The award was given for a working paper on teaching videos created by generative AI, coauthored by Torbjørn Netland, Katalin Tesch, Daniel Kwasnitschka, and Oliver von Dzengelevski. We congratulate!
The author team used generative AI to produce teaching videos on selected POM subjects. We use ChatGPT to generate the video script, and Midjourney and Movio to generate visuals, avatars and videos. We run a web experiment comparing AI-generated videos with human-created videos on the same topic.

As AI technology continues to advance, it will be critical for researchers and educators to explore new ways of leveraging AI-generated content to enhance learning experiences while also remaining mindful of the potential limitations and ethical considerations associated with its use. Our ongoing research hopes to give an example of what the future may hold for our occupation.
The Nigel Slack Teaching Innovation Award is given to exceptional papers that improve teaching in the discipline of operations management. The award is sponsored by Pearson and awarded by the external page European Association of Operations Management.
