Henrik Franke and Torbjørn Netland have published a new paper together with their colleagues Frank Wiengarten from ESADE Barcelona and Christian Durach from ESCP Berlin.
How do firms compete with their operational capabilities? Can they do it all or need to pick among cost or quality, for example? This question has been keeping researchers busy for decades and the new paper tries to shed a new light on it.
This study is intended to motivate and guide future researchers to rethink and update their theories of operational capability development. The paper provides reflections on the network structure of operational capabilities, such as their interconnectedness and interactions, which are likely to evolve dynamically over time and have not yet been part of scientific thinking about operational capability development.
