The paper “Emerging technologies and the use case: A multi-year study of drone adoption” has been published online in Journal of Operations Management. The paper is authored by Omid Maghazei, Prof. Michael A. Lewis (University of Bath School of Management), and Prof. Torbjørn Netland.
Why and how do companies pilot and adopt Industry 4.0 technologies like drones, blockchain, AI, VR/AR? Through a five-year research project, the authors conduct longitudinal cases studies of drone adoption in operations settings including field tests at Geberit with Flyability and a study of IKEA's drone adoption for inventory control using drones from Verity and HARDIS GROUP. This paper contributes new theoretical and practical insights to the management of Industry 4.0 technologies like drones.
