Unternehmung

Die Unternehmung counts as one of the leading German journals in the field of Business Administration. The Special Issue presents a comprehensive overview of the state-of-the-art in management of global manufacturing networks. Among the senior contributors to the special issue are Prof. Kasra Ferdows (Georgetown University), Prof. Gisela Lanza (KIT), Prof. Günther Schuh (RWTH Aachen) and Prof. Roman Hänggi (Ostschweizer Fachhochschule).

Prof. Friedli and Prof. Netland’s editorial in Die Unternemung is titled “New Times for International Production Networks.” The special issue contains six valuable contributions to the contemporary and important debate on global production networks. Besides a conceptual paper by Ferdows, two literature reviews by Remling and Benfer et al. take stock of the current state of the art on essential aspects relating to global production networks: The role of performance management and the role of resiliency. Two further papers by Miedler and Schlosser et al. both build on deep case study insight to suggest practical concepts and techniques that help improve production network designs. Finally, Liao et al. use simulation to offer a way to overcome uncertainty in networks. Access the Special Issue external pagehere.

The Special Issue also marks the ending of our successful joint Innousiusse project Intelligence-Based Manufacturing Networks (Innosuisse Projekt-Nr.: 41648.1 IP-SBM).
