New paper in Journal of Operations Management

We are pleased to announce a new paper in the Journal of Operations Management. Together with Dr. Johannes Meuer from SusTec, our alumni Prof. Maricela Arellano (now at HEC Montréal) and Prof. Netland just published “Commitment follows beliefs: A configurational perspective on operations managers' commitment to practice adoption” in one of the field’s flagship journals.

This paper seeks answers to a fundamental question for organizations seeking to implement best practices: How do managers commit to practice adoption? It is well known that change initiatives such as Lean, Operational Excellence, and Digital Transformation often fail due to a lack of management commitment. We show that there are "many ways to Rome". Highly committed managers can take the role of a Follower, a Pragmatist, or a Reformer. The key to building high commitment is to pay attention to and nudge the managers' belief configurations.
