New project grant: EU Horizon 2020 Coronavirus program
Together with project partners, the Chair of POM has been awarded a competitive grant from the EU Horizon 2020 progam.

The project called Eur3ka, which focuses on repurposing of factories and fast pandemic response in European manufacturing receives funding from the special Coronovirus program of Horizon 2020 (Call: H2020-SC1-PHE-CORONAVIRUS-2020-2-NMBP). In competition with 35 other proposals, the Eur3ka project got one of expectedly two grants.
The main ambition of Eur3ka is to facilitate quick access to (1) a plug & respond (P&R) repurposing coordination platform, (2) open manufacturing reference architecture and solutions, and (3) connecting manufacturing capabilities and medical knowledge on-demand. The Chair of POM will primarily focus on manufacturing repurposing as part of this project. The Chair’s part of the budget exceeds 200,000 CHF. Prof. Netland has been involed due to the Chair’s expertise in manufacturing and his ideas on external page how to solve the ventilator crisis.
In Eur3ka, the Chair of POM joins forces with Siemens, Atoos, TNO, Fraunhofer, Intrasof, University of Oslo, DTI, Politecnico di Milano, and Engineering Ingegneria Informatica S.p.A. (coordinator), among others. The project now enters the contractual phase and is expected to start later this year.
