New Doctoral Student
The Chair of POM welcomes Mr. Clemens Gróf as a new doctoral student from September 2020.

Clemens joins the POM team from the German Aerospace Center (DLR) in Hamburg, Germany, where he was conducting research on the optimization and digitalization of aviation maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) operations. Before joining the research community, Clemens had been working at an aviation maintenance and asset management organization in Tallinn, Estonia. There, he was responsible for the development, implementation and execution of an organization-wide business process management system. Furthermore, he supported in strategic IT and M&A projects. During his studies, Clemens worked for several months in the Corporate Development Center at MTU Aero Engines in Munich, Germany. He is looking forward to applying his industry insights in his doctoral research project at the chair of POM.
Clemens holds a Master’s degree from RWTH Aachen University in Business Administration and Mechanical Engineering, where he specialized in Aerospace Engineering. During a research visit at the Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, Sweden, he studied platform-based and value-driven product development. In his Master’s thesis project, he developed a modelling- and simulation-based decision support for design of additive manufactured aircraft engine components considering lifecycle implications when applying additive manufacturing as manufacturing method. His Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering - Management, Clemens attained from the Vienna University of Technology.
In his free time, Clemens enjoys travelling– especially in Europe. He has been active member in several sport clubs and playing various ball sports. Now, living in Switzerland, he is looking forward the exploring the Swiss nature and Alps.
