Prof. Netland and his teaching assistants, Oliver Fläschner and Omid Maghazei, introduced the technology of Virtual Reality into the course "Global Operations Strategy" by using factory-visit apps and affordable cardboard viewers. This way, students had the chance to experience all the inner workings of a factory in the classroom.

This teaching innovation was realized in cooperation with ABB Turbochargers (Baden, Switzerland) who provided the smartphone application.

The aim of the award is to highlight the importance and centrality of teaching and encourage commitment and dedication to
training and education as the primary function of the Management Engineering community. The award committee accepts proposals for educational initiatives that show both excellence and innovation and capture the emerging trends in society, among young people and in learning processes, often as a result of technology spreading through all areas of life and education
