POM attends APMS conference

The chair of POM joined this year’s APMS conference in Chemnitz, Germany. While two of our PhD students participated in the doctoral workshop, we also presented two papers.

Alexander Albers and Matthias Bickel participated in the doctoral workshop, gaining invaluable feedback in the early stages of their careers as well as offering networking opportunities with seasoned APMS community members and fellow PhD students.

Prof. Torbjörn Netland (Head of POM), Dr. Omid Maghazei (Assistant Professor at University of Bath and POM alumnus), Alexander Albers (PhD student at POM), and Matthias Bickel (PhD student at POM)

Alexander Albers presented his paper “Lenses on Data: Toward an Application Perspective on Data in Manufacturing” (Albers and Netland, 2024). His research highlights the prevalent issue of companies being “data-rich, information-poor,” sparking a lively discussion on the topic’s relevance to both industry and academia. The paper can be found external page here.

Dr. Omid Maghazei presented the paper “Exploring Servitization in Building Technology: The Case of Piping Systems” (Keller et al, 2024). It is about servitization in building technology, offering a market, an organizational, and a technological perspective. The paper can be found external page here.

The Advances in Production Management Systems (APMS) conference regularly attracts top scholars from all over the world, underlining the claim to offer an international forum for engineering-related management topics. The 43rd APMS conference followed the theme of “Production Management Systems for Volatile, Uncertain, Complex and Ambiguous (VUCA) Environments”. Held in Chemnitz, a city with a rich industrial heritage and home to the renowned Technical University of Chemnitz (TU Chemnitz), the conference was organized by TU Chemnitz and West Saxon University of Applied Sciences Zwickau.
